Summer grilling season means a lot of burgers and hot dogs, but sometimes, a juicy, perfectly seasoned steak is in order. And, of course, nothing goes better with steak than rich, caramelized mushrooms.

It’s amazing that a meal this good can come together so fast, but one of the things that helps move it along is an all in one seasoning blend. This one, Ava’s Favorite Burger seasoning is a nice blend of garlic, onion, and savory spices that is obviously great for burgers as the name suggests, but it’s also amazing for steaks, and in this case, mushrooms.

Both components are seasoned with Ava’s Favorite Burger, cooked separately, then brought together for amazingness. You’ll probably want to start the mushrooms first by cooking them in a pan until browned, since they’ll probably take longer to cook than the steak. But that depends on how you like your steaks.

You should serve this with some sort of green vegetable to balance out the richness. Spinach or asparagus work well, but even a green salad will be perfect. Whether eaten outside or in, it will become an easy favorite.

Serves 2
Prep time: 20 minutes

2 tablespoons Ava Jane’s Kitchen Avocado Oil

2 green onions, sliced

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 tablespoon Ava’s Favorite Burger seasoning, divided

2 beef tenderloin steaks

Preheat a gas or charcoal grill to medium high heat.

Heat a skillet to medium heat and add the oil. Add the green onions, mushrooms, and half the seasoning and cook until the mushrooms are nicely browned and caramelized.

Season the steaks with the remaining seasoning and add to the preheated grill.  Cook until done to your liking.

Divide the mushrooms between the steaks and serve with additional chopped green onions if desired.
