Little Things You Can Do to Significantly Increase Your Health

Living a healthy lifestyle is both hard and easy. It’s hard in that there are so many things that you need to do and worry about every day, week, month and year to make sure that your level of health stays high. It can be frustrating, monotonous, and sometimes seems like it takes up an enormous amount of your time. Living healthy can be easy, though, by making just a few changes to your daily routine.

40 Days Is the Key

A well documented fact is that it takes approximately 40 days to make or break a habit. The amount of days doesn’t really matter for our purposes, but the fact that there is a number does.  It gives you a goal to reach, and a finish line to pass when adding or subtracting things from your daily routine. This will be an important milestone when applying some of the tips from this article. Make it your 40 days, and you stand a much better chance of easily sticking to the change for a lifetime.

Little Things Matter!

Most people think that it takes an enormous amount of time and effort to make these changes. Not so! While we do have to take care of our health and devote time to it in this day and age, it doesn’t have to be a huge extra burden. Making the little changes adds up to a big change, and chances are that you will hardly even notice them! Plus, some of those changes might even save you some money, depending on how you implement them!

Here They Come…

There are many things you can do, but let’s start with the obvious. Walking. The unfortunate effect of our transportation-based society is that we rely on it very heavily. Even when we could walk or take the stairs, we don’t. Why? Because it’s easy not to, and our society has made convenience a huge part of living in it.

Everything is geared to making things easier. But that’s not such a good thing when it comes to your health! One great change you can make is to set a minimum limit for yourself for walking. For example, if something is less than a quarter mile from you, walk it. If over that, make your own determination. As for the time involved, you would be surprised at just how little extra time it takes to get there and back with a brisk walk as compared to driving, stop lights, parking, etc.

Stairs offer another good opportunity. If something is within two or three flights, why not use the stairs? These things seem very small, but they add up over time, and will have a great effect on your body. By the way, don’t order your groceries! Take a walk around the grocery store and check out the items.

Ingest Differently

Let’s face it. We take in a whole lot of nasty food and chemicals. While they may taste good, drinking things that can dissolve the rust off of a car or still be unspoiled after 40 or 50 years can’t be that great for your organism! Try to make some small changes which will, in fact, probably be better tasting and make a great change in your overall health in a pretty short period of time.

One good one is to replace your regular table salt with sea salt. It’s way healthier and has a lot of vitamins and minerals you need. And it tastes amazing! Another is to trade in all those margarine products for real butter. The fats in butter are not the bad ones, and it’s not made from a petroleum byproduct! Kids even perform better in school when they have a better breakfast, including real butter instead of margarine.

Good Oil Is Awesome

Another great change to make is to switch your cooking and salad oils. Making that change from olive or sunflower to avocado oil can make a HUGE difference.

Getting a quality avocado oil is also key. There are too many health benefits to list here (you can literally read entire books on the benefits!), but avocado oil also tastes great, and has a high smoke point, making it great to cook with (and you don’t need as much either, due to its great viscosity!).
