Soup is such a magical food. You can put literally anything in it, and it makes an easy, almost effortless meal. Especially in the winter when what you want is a comforting bowl of food that in the words of my grandma “sticks to your ribs.” This soup does just that, and it’s easy to make as well.

Wild rice is one my favorite side dishes, so it would only stand to reason that it’s perfect in soup, so I added it here. To speed up the cooking process, I used instant wild rice, but feel free to use whatever you have or like. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time.

For seasoning, there are some aromatic veggies of course, but to ramp it up, I used some Ava Jane’s Kitchen Roadside Chicken seasoning, which is a fresh and delicious poultry blend that delivers perfectly here.

A dollop of sour cream at the end adds a bit of creaminess without weighing down the soup, so you’re left with good food that makes you feel good.

2 tablespoons Ava Jane’s Kitchen Avocado Oil

1 onion, diced

2 carrots, diced

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 tablespoon Ava Jane’s Kitchen Roadside Chicken spice blend

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup instant wild rice

4 cups Kettle & Fire Chicken Bone Broth  (USE Code AVAJANE to get 15% off)

1/2 cup sour cream

Fresh chopped parsley, for serving



Heat the oil in a heavy pot. Add the onion, carrots, and mushrooms, and cook until soft.

Stir in the seasoning, and add the turkey, followed by the garlic.

Stir and cook until turkey is no longer pink in the center. Add the wild rice, stir, and add the broth.

Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, and simmer for 10 minutes, or long enough for your rice to cook.

Uncover, turn off heat and stir in the sour cream.

Serve topped with fresh chopped parsley.
